Manifest stores Assembly metadata. It includes every the metadata required to perform the following tasks

• Scope of the assembly.
• Security identity.
• Resolve references to resources and classes.
• Version of assembly.

The assembly manifest could be stored in the PE file either an .dll or an.exe via Microsoft Intermediate language MSIL code with Microsoft intermediate language (or MSIL) code or in a stand-alone PE file, that contains only assembly manifest information.
