Secure HTTP: There are presently two techniques of establishing a secure HTTP connection: the https URI scheme and HTTP 1.1 Upgrade header, mentioned by RFC 2817. The browser support for Upgrade header is, though, almost non-existent, therefore HTTPS is still the dominant technique of establishing a secure HTTP connection.
