Containment in Cold War policy
What did “containment” mean in the context of the Cold War policy? Why did the USA begin the Marshall Plan?
Expert
Containment was the policy of US which stated that any attempt to spread communism would be seen as a threat to the democratic nations of the world and this gave them a reason to fight with that nation.
The Marshall Plan began so that by lending money to European nations, USA was making a point that those European countries would not follow the path of Communism. This would make them strong.
