There are three types of the neurons: efferent neurons, afferent neurons and interneuron. Afferent neurons are those which only transmit sensory detail from tissues to neural nuclei and ganglia (where they create connection with effectors or interneuron neurons). Efferent neurons are those which transmit commands to tasks carried out in various parts of body. Interneurons, also named as association neurons or relay neurons, serve as connection among two other neurons.

Afference is conduction of sensory impulses and efference is transfer of effector impulses (impulses which command the body action).
