Phylum Mollusca is classified into the five main classes:
a) Pelecypods, or bivalves (Pelecypoda, or Bivalvia), involves clams, oysters, mussels; b) Gastropods (Gastropoda), sea slugs, snails,; c) Cephalopods (Cephalopoda), squids, octopuses; d) Scaphopods (Scaphopoda), tooth shells; e) Polyplacophora, chitons.
