In every vertebrate, including fish the circulatory system is closed, that is, blood flows within the blood vessels.
Fish heart has two consecutive chambers:
a) Thin-walled atrium and
b) Muscular ventricle.
The arterial or the oxygenated blood comes from the gills and gains arteries towards the tissues, and then the venous blood is collected by the veins and reaches atrium of heart passing to ventricle which pumps venous blood in the direction of the gills to become again oxygenated.
