The characteristics of the process are:

a)  The process recommends all of the major process activities.
b) The process makes use of the resources, subject to the set of constraints like a schedule, and generates the intermediate and final products.
c) The process is generally composed of the sub processes which are linked in some or other way. The process can be defined as the hierarchy of the processes, which are organized so that every sub process has its own process model.
d) Every process activity has criteria of the entry and exit, in order that, we know when activity begins and ends.
e) Activities are organized in the sequence, in order that it becomes clear when one activity is carried out relative to other activities.
f) Each process has a set of guiding principles which describe the aims of each activity.
