According to their comparative tonicity the solution can be categorized as: hypertonic (or hyperosmotic), hypotonic (or hyposmotic) or isotonic (or isosmotic).
Whenever a solution is less concentrated as compare to other, the adjective hypotonic is provided and the more concentrated is termed as hypertonic.
