Illustrate what do you mean by Autocratic or Authoritarian Leadership? When should authoritarian leadership be applied?

a. An autocratic leader offers guidelines and insists that they are monitored. Without asking them they accomplishes the strategies for the group.

b. He does not give information about future plans but simply tells the group what immediate steps they must take.

c. Under this style, all decision making power is centralized in the leader as shown in the diagram. He does not give the underlings any freedom to influence his decision.

d. It is just similar to “bossing people around”.

Authoritarian leadership should applied when:-

a. It is best applied to situations where there is little time for group decision-making.

b. It is practical where the leader is the most educated member of the group.
