List out the benefits of the distributed system?

a) Performance : Collection of the processors generally give higher performance and better price/performance ratio in comparison to the centralized computer.

b) Distribution : Several applications involve, by their nature, spatially isolated machines.

c) Reliability or fault tolerance : In case any of the machines crash it will not affect other machines, hence the system can easily survive.

d) Incremental growth : As requirements over the processing power grow, new machines can be easily added incrementally.

e) Sharing of the data/resources : Shared data is necessary for several applications (computer supported cooperative work, banking reservation systems); other resources e.g. expensive printers can also be shared.

f) Communication : It also provides the human-to-human communication.
