People celebrate occasions by engaging in rituals. Pick a holiday, or special occasion, one from your home country/culture is welcome, and learn everything you can about its history, evolution, and present day rituals.
Consider how ritualistic behaviors associated with these occasions have evolved and developed meaning and have become incorporated into consumer culture through consumption behaviors.
Write an essay presenting your findings and your reactions to the rituals. Each student will present her/his essay in class, using power-point or keynote slide presentations, and any demonstration materials are welcome.
