Question: This assignment will require students to attend court and observe a Civil Trial, Hearing, Motion or Legal Proceeding. You may visit Justice Court, State(District) Court or United States District Court. District and Justice Courts are located at 200 Lewis Street, Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the Regional Justice Center.

The federal court is located at 333 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada. It is offically named The Lloyd B. George United States District Court.

Henderson Justice Court, North Las Vegas Justice Court and Pahrump Courts, or other Justice or District Courts. If you are a non-resident (Nevada) you must visit a Justice Court or District or Superior Court in that city or locale. No traffic or municipal court observations. No criminal cases/hearings/ legal proceedings will be accepted.

With respect to the case you select prepare:

300-600 word paper covering:

• Name of Case .

• The facts of the case .

• Question of law (this is stated in a question) This is the Issue in the case!

• The Court Ruling

• Why you either support or oppose the court's ruling

• Identify the court(name of court). Example: District Court, US District Court, Justice Court, Family or Superior Court

• What type of case: Contracts, property, Employment Law, Commercial Paper, Landlord/Tenant, Tort

• Use Time Roman 12 font

• Students who are enrolled in the course and do not reside in Las Vegas, Nevada must follow the same instructions and attend the court(s) in your jurisdiction (local city).

• Court attire (dress) must be appropriate. No shorts, cut-offs, halter tops, flip flops, caps or baggy or saggy pants. Business office attire (dress) is appropriate.

• No electronic devices in courtroom. Be very certain that cell phones and beepers are clearly off. If you think that you cannot remember to turn them off, leave them in the car. Absolutely no tape recorders or computers. Turn off all electronic devices, no cell phones please. Be very cautious about this and please be respectful of the court.

• View the Clark County Court Calendar at this site: follow the instructions and click / browse accessclarkcounty, this will allow you to see cases or trials, hearings and motions that have been scheduled. Also, try this website to access the court calendar. It will also assist you in coordinating your time and schedule. Search the web for court calendar to assist you. Sometimes these websites change without notice. Therefore, the websites may not be workable.

• This must be a civil trial/hearing/motion observed. No criminal cases, hearings or motions will be accepted for grading. If a case is titled ....State of Nevada or Ohio or The People versus Mary Jane; this indicates that this is a criminal case. No later papers will be accepted. Court Observation Due: April 7, 2018.

• Select your own time; to visit the court(s )as you determine and incorporate into your schedule. There is no specific time to stay, but you must stay a sufficient amount of time to answer the required questions and to provide sufficient information for the court observation report. There are many courtrooms/departments in the Regional Justice Center. And there are four or five in the US Federal Court, you may attend either. If you do not reside in Nevada, you must visit a District/Superior or Justice Court in your city.

• Be certain that you observe a Civil Proceeding. No Criminal Matters accepted.

• Court Observation must be submitted in Microsoft word document in the Assignment Drop Box.
