Why is it that a solution of sodium dichromate in sulfuric


Why is it that a solution of sodium dichromate in sulfuric acid is perfect to oxidize a secondary alcohol to a ketone...is it equally good a reagent for the oxidation of a primary alcohol to a aldehyde (are there better available?)
