Given you an overview of the interface of the correctional and mental health systems, as well as a picture of what it might be like to work in the correctional environment. This has likely brought to light many areas you had not even considered that come up as challenges on a daily basis in this environment.
For this assignment, imagine that you are about to embark on a career in correctional psychology. As part of the interview process for a position as a mental health professional, you have been asked to write a response to the following questions:
1. Offer insight into challenges you may face in entering the system as a whole. What social policies or correctional frameworks differ from your own personal values and those values you uphold as a psychologist?
2. Determine which aspects of the correctional environment and your new co-workers will be the most challenging. Then, explain how you will handle these challenges.
3. Determine if you believe you can have an impact upon such a constrained system. If you believe you can have an impact, identify the tools you will need for success.
This assignment should primarily be a self-reflection based on what you have learned in the readings so far on correctional psychology.
Length: 2-3 pages.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
