• This unit focuses on the criminal justice policy process and the effectiveness of criminal justice policy. For this discussion, let's begin thinking critically about two questions:
o What is the importance of policy within the criminal justice system?
o Why is it significant to evaluate the effectiveness of criminal justice policy?
• Discuss the evolution of the Department of Homeland Security. What different laws and policies have been created by the Department of Homeland Security? How effective have these laws and policies been?
• Examine different sentencing strategies in your state. How have your state's sentencing strategies evolved? What factors have resulted in changes to sentencing policies in general? What is the connection between sentencing policies and rehabilitation? Are the strategies effect?
