Walmart is a company that is listed in the fortune magazine. The company specializes in the sale of retail products. The company operates various hypermarkets; grocery stores as well as discount department stores. The company has its headquarters in Arkansas. The company has a total of eleven thousand five hundred stores as well as clubs in over twenty-eight countries around the world.  The company is the world’s largest company looking at its revenue and therefore it has many employees and it acts as a private employer giving jobs to over 2.2 million people around the world. The aim of this paper is to discuss Walmart’s human resource philosophy.

The company’s human resource philosophy is interesting and it also suits the company and the goals that it intends to achieve. The company values hard working employees that are dedicated to making the organization successful.  The company emphasizes good customer service from its employees so as to make their customers happy for greater benefits to be realized.
I believe that the company values its employees as it considers its employees as the greatest assets. The company therefore treats its employees well so as to ensure that they help the organization achieve its objectives and goals. Based on the company’s philosophy it is clear that the organization values the work of employees and how each of them contributes to the organization for success to be realized.

The company values its employees since it has shown value for them when it appreciates their efforts and also when it promotes those that perform highly to a higher rank. According to the company’s employees is that the company values what they do and they are therefore proud working for the organization as it supports them and their families and they are therefore happy working for and with the organization. The company works to ensure that its employees are safe, by abiding by all labor laws and regulations to ensure that its workers are taken care of(Soderquist, 2005).

The human resource department is concerned with the staffing process of the organization. Staffing is crucial for this company as it ensures that enough workers are available to serve needy customers. The company finds the need to do staffing when there are vacancies that are there due to many reasons that cause a job vacancy to be left vacant.  The staffing process involves the following process:

First, when the company has a job vacancy then it publishes it in the various platforms including social media, traditional media and others. Once this message is out there the job candidates are required to send their applications for the job position. Once the applications are received, they are screened to ensure that the right candidates are selected depending on the qualification and experience needed. Once they are selected they need to be trained more on the roles that are to perform to ensure excellence when they enter into the field to serve various customers. These employees are finally absorbed into the company and they need to be monitored closely to ensure that their goals match with the goals of the employer.

The company pays its employees at the market rate. The company sticks with the minimum compensation rate and therefore its employees are paid at the minimum wage. The employees of this company have been complaining over low wages and this has affected the organization negatively in terms of its reputation due to many employees demanding for a pay rise since the wages are too low for them. This rate of compensation is not satisfying to these employees since they feel that the company needs to appreciate their efforts by increasing their pay. It has been an issue for this company due to low wages where employees feel that they’re not rewarded as they expect since their employer has not been doing so.

I am looking forward to learning a lot in various areas of the final project. I would want to study the human resource philosophies of other companies so as to differentiate the different types. This knowledge would assist in understanding the different philosophies that are used in various companies so that one can appreciate their strategies. I would want to learn more about why companies compensate employees differently and how employees feel about their employers. It is also vital to learn more about the different methods companies employ so that they can be in a position to value their employees so that they can feel appreciated and valued in the companies that they work for(Durai, 2010).
