Understanding marketing segmentation

Assignment:

1. The purpose of our discussion in LP2 is to discuss our understanding of marketing segmentation. Typically, customers are segmented based on their individual demographics (age, gender, geographic location (ZIP Code), income level, educational level) etc. Marketers recognize however that there can be some limitations in relying on solely demographic factors in order to describe one's customers. How accurate is it to assess the needs and wants of your customers simply by looking at their demographics? Can demographic factors really be a useful measure of a customer's needs and wants in the marketplace? What else might a marketer consider?

2. Why is it important for a manager to be able to conduct a job analysis? What are the negative outcomes that would result from not understanding the jobs of those reporting to the manager? What is the utility of a job analysis? Support your answer with credible sources. Cite your sources using proper APA format (both in-text and reference entries).
