Types of items measured

In the manufacturer sector, the types of items measured, for example average call times, product weights, container volumes, etc tend to be such that when corresponding frequency histogram is graphed, the data appears to be approximately bell-curve shaped.

A. Suppose that in measuring the weekly call volume for a servce center, you compute the mean volume too be 3,000 calls weekly, and the weekly standard deviation is about 200 calls. If the weekly call is approximately bell-shaped, apply the emperical rule to construct an interval in which approximately 95% of all weekly call volumes will fall.

B. During one week you find that the weekly call volume 2,750. Is this an unusually low value? Explain why using the values from part A.
