1: Current Events Analysis (x2)
Two 2 page analysis papers will be required during the semester of a current-event news story. The paper must contain the date of the event and the source from which it was viewed or read. Each analysis must include the global relevance of the event as well as reference a concept or theory discussed in class. Any bias that might be represented in the source should also be addressed and how that bias impacts the reporting of the issue. There should be no repeat in the themes discussed in the papers. For example, if one analysis already discussed a story related to gender, then the other analysis may not focus on that issue.
