Topic: Analyze the various ways that WWII and the Cold War affected how African Americans approached the federal state in the late 1950's through the mid 1960s.
What I wrote: During the late 1950's and mid 1960's , there was violence, fear, protest and the degrading of the African American population. White supremacy was still going on although slavery was abolished years prior and the African American population still struggled with their rights to freedom. There was little to no equality and we ask the question of why? The answer to that question is the African Americans had little freedom as to what they could do to defend themselves from this dominant White society. Although, they say the Civil War was over in 1865 it did not. At least between the Blacks and Whites of course. During the 1950's and through the 1960's the African Americans fought for the Civil Rights Movement, African Americans fought for their individuality and showed that they were seen as human beings and not just some "thing" that walks around asking for the rights they deserve.
