DATA ANALYSIS AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

OBJECTIVE

To display knowledge of Data Analysis and Quality Improvement materials and be able to apply theory to practice.

CASE STUDY

You are the new Director of the Food and Nutrition Services Department of a 520-bed hospital. The previous director was fired after a year of continuous complaints from customers/patients regarding the foodservice quality. Use your imagination to create at least one example of foodservice operation issue that would cause poor quality in your operation. Your primary task as director is to evaluate the foodservice operation and devise a quality management/process improvement program to resolve the issue(s) facing the foodservice operation. Use the questions below to guide your operation evaluation, data analysis, and
plan of action.

ASSIGNMENT GUIDE

  • Define a minimum of three Approaches to Quality and how they will be used in your quality management program.
  • Describe the tools you will use in your process improvement (benchmarking, cause analysis, etc.). Specify whether you will be using, surveys, focus groups, check sheets, etc. Include at least one cause and effect diagram, flow chart, check sheet, etc.
  • Create a project management plan using the PDCA model and Gantt chart.
