Agency: Manchester Drug Treatment Center
Role: Educator
Responsibilities: To share with the client information about something they need to know to make a decision about recovery or treatment.
Helping Process: When staff at the Manchester Drug Treatment center first meet with clients they teach the client about the agency (hours, how to get a hold of the worker, forms that need to be filled out). As the client is selecting goals and tasks to include in their recovery plan they need to know about their options. Staff at the center help clients to define their goals. After a recovery plan is developed, the center staff share information about other agencies in the community that could help clients maintain their sobriety and how they can apply for those services. In each of these examples, staff at the Manchester Drug Treatment Center use the role of an educator to help their client.
