1. Probation Initiatives
Review and examine the article on "The Truth About 'Broken Windows' Probation: Moving Towards A Proactive Community Supervision Model." Next, summarize at least three of the major points in the findings regarding the status of probation and ways to improve it. Share and defend your views (in support or opposition) to the Reinventing Probation Council's recommendations.
2. Probation and Rights
Those on probation are normally subject to search by the probation officer. The probation officer may make an unannounced search of their homes, cars and persons at any time. The Fourteenth Amendment says that persons shall be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. In your opinion, is this type of open search reasonable? Why or why not? Should there be restrictions on this type of search? Why or why not?
