Health insurance protects individuals against expensive medical bills and ensures access to healthcare when needed. There are two types of health insurance: Medicare and Medicaid are examples of public health insurance. Employers mostly found private health insurance premiums. Health insurance makes healthcare more affordable, spreading the risks associated with healthcare costs amount to many individuals. It also provides security by easing access to healthcare. Health insurance is regulated by state laws that provide mandated benefits (Sommers et al., 2017).
