When a dislocation passes right through a crystal slip equal to a lattice spacing occurs. Estimate the number of dislocations on the (111) plane which would be needed to produce 5% plastic deformation in an aluminium specimen 1cm long (for Al the cube edge of the lattice is 0.4 nm).
