Organizational structure: Chain of authority for compliance
More and more companies are separating the organizational structure of the compliance officer to allow him/her to remain neutral from the company without fear of reprisal from upper management. It is very important that this group of compliance people remain separated from the management structure. In my last company the compliance office was assigned to the same manager who consistently violated the ethics of the corporation. They were never written up for fear of getting fired. Explain.
