As stated in different articles, technological advancement within our societies has notably been associated with both advantages and disadvantages which has affected not only our social life but also other aspects of our lives.
On a different perspective, technology remains a pivotal prospect that has significantly facilitated in the promotion of different entrepreneurial environment.
Some of the primal challenges believed to have emanated from advanced technology relate to health-related effects such as mental disorders, disruption of people's privacy, social isolation and among other issues. Regarding my perspective, I have come across different scenarios explaining the challenges associated with the recent technological advancement.
One of the current scenarios that I encountered involved a malicious individual who managed to hack computer programs used by Maroochy Shire, Queensland to cause a sewage spillage.
The individual, Vitek Boden, was allegedly accused of hacking the Company's operating systems as a form of revenge after the company refused to hire him (Smith, 2001).
The 40-year-old individual managed to breach the computerized waste management system resulting in the spillage of over a million liters of sewage. The sewage spillage spread to different localities including local parks, Hyatt Regency hotel grounds and even rivers. Even though no human life was endangered, the spillage resulted in the death of marine creatures and an unbearable stench which affected daily activities.
One of the critical factors or reason that enabled the culprit to perpetrate the incident primarily relates to the poorly and unmanaged system approaches and procedures integrated by the Organization.
In details, the hacked company lacked proper processes and methodologies that could have prevented the occurrence of such incidents. With this attestation, the best approach that could have allowed the Organization evade such malicious intents regards to integrating proactive security measures and procedures with the ability to mitigate such incidents.
