Non-polar covalent compounds


Akyl halides tend to be relatively non-polar covalent compounds. They dissolve in non-polar solvents but are insoluble in water. Cycloheptatrienyl bromide, however, behaves like an ionic compound. Thus, this compound is insoluble in non-polar solvents but it dissolves readily in water. Explain why.
