Assignment: Holiday Shopping Exercise

Each student must submit a separate assignment. Each student should select his/her own wines.

Here is the assignment:

1. This exercise must be typed. E-mails not accepted.
2. This exercise is due on Wednesday, December 5th at 7:30 pm.
3. No late papers.
4. This exercise requires that you visit a retail store where wine is sold.
5. You may NOT list wines off the Internet as final answers.
6. You may use the Internet for researching the wines you found in the stores.
7. You may NOT count "shelf talkers" from a retail store as research.
8. You must cite your references!

Go to a local wine store and list and describe each of the wines listed below:

Each wine is worth a 1-point value.

A. One wine - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or Zinfandel from Sonoma or Napa Valley or one of their sub-appellations in California
B. One wine - Pinot Noir or Syrah from Europe (France, Spain, etc.)
C. One wine - White wine from Chile, Argentina, New Zealand or Australia
D. One wine- Sparkling wine from France, Spain or Italy
E. One wine - Dessert or Fortified wine

Each answer must include:

1. Full name of the wine

2. Vintage, producer, varietal or name of the wine, appellation and/or region as indicated. (You should be trying to list the wine as it would be listed on a restaurant wine list or in a wine shop.)

3. Description explaining what you know given the name.

4. Is this name a place, a varietal, a legendary name or a proprietary name?

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
