Issues with strategic management

Question: From the point of view of the General (day-to-day) Manager of a Joint Venture Company (JVC), critically discuss and analyse the short, medium and long term challenges inherent in the management of a JVC. ALSO, discuss how such issues would affect the day-to-day management of the JVC and what action might be taken to minimise the problems/risks.

Notes/Tips: In doing so, consider issues with operational management such as integration of the staff from each of the partner companies into one coherent team, creating teams, establishing culture and good communication.

Also consider issues with strategic management such as maintaining relations with the parent companies, managing the often divergent requirements of the two partners, long term investment/sustainability.

Also consider risk mitigation such as competitor monitoring, changes in macroeconomics, market trend data and supply chain.

Further Notes: This is a masters level work so high quality of analysis and writing is expected. The answer should contain significant academic material, examples from real life, case studies e.t.c. to enable a detailed and critical analysis.
