Write a paper of 6 to 8 page:The paper will be typed (double spaced). Works cited page must be included following MLA practices.

General format for research papers:

a. All projects must use criminological concepts, theories and principles. The student must demonstrate a clear ability to apply criminological reasoning and higher order thinking skills.

b. The student’s name and course number must appear on the first page of the research paper.

c. Firmly staple the project. Do not invest in any type of cover/folder. Do not use paper clips.

d. Copying anything from any source without proper notation is an offense with serious consequence.
Plagiarism is not permitted.

Statement concerning plagiarism:Plagiarism, the misuse of source materials involving greater or lesser amounts of copying, is unacceptable in student work. At the discretion of the instructor, the penalty for plagiarism may be a grade zero (0)/F with no opportunity to rewrite the work. Subsequent plagiarism, at the discretion of the instructor, shall be grounds for failure for the course.

There are a variety if types of plagiarism. Common types include:

a. Student submits a paper whether wholly or in substantial part using exact phrasing of source materials. In text parenthetical documentation and quotation marks fail to make clear the degree of borrowing;

b. Student submits a paper closely paraphrased from source materials (i.e. :the original source material is simply edited with perhaps minor word changes occurring). There is an absence of reorganization of the source material;

c. Student submits a paper closely paraphrased from source materials. Splicing together sentences from scattered segments of the original work. Phrasing of the original is changed slightly. This constitutes patchwork plagiarism, whether documented or not, unless direct quoting has been indicated;

d. Student paraphrases or summarizes correctly from a source but fails to cite sources by using internal documentation;

e. Student cuts and pastes information from the internet;

f. Students submits a paper written by another student, spouse or colleague.

A minimum of six scholarly sources need to be referenced.

The final assessment of the research paper will be based on the following criteria: clarity of project, organization of materials, content and thorough examination of materials and scholarly reference.
