How thick atmosphere have to temperature rise

The United States consumes 3,749,846 thousand megawatt hours each year. Assuming all of that energy was dumped to the earth's atmosphere instantaneously. How thick (i.e. altitude-wise) would the atmosphere have to be in order to have a temperature rise of no more than 0.5 C? Assume all of the atmosphere is at 15 C and 101.33 kPa. Assume constant specific heats at 300 K & neglect any boundary work.
