How the given category is being practiced in your community

Assignment: World Religion

Read essay instruction very careful!

1. Choose any one category from the 8 World Chart category headings. Choose ONE of the listed categories (origin of all things, nature of god, view of human nature, view of good and evil, view of salvation, view of afterlife, view of rituals & practices, and view of celebration/festivals) from the chart to focus on for this assignment. Consider how the selected category relates to all of the religions covered and to your own social or work experiences

2. Show how this category relates to all 12 World Religions we have discussed this quarter (begin with Hinduism).

3. Then answer the question: What are the most important aspects and points about the chart category you have chosen? (Example: Suppose you chose the category of "View of After Life" in Christianity. Describe in 2-3 paragraphs how Christianity views the Afterlife).

4. The next question is: What do you find interesting about Afterlife as a category? Explain its significance to you.

5. Answer the question, "Why is Afterlife important in the study of any religion"? Show how this category is significant for each religion.

6. Provide an example of how this category is being practiced in your community, town or country. The example can be from your own practice.

7. What impact does this category have in the everyday lives of people who practice religion in your area?

8. Discuss one thing about this practice that stands out in your mind. (Example: in Atlanta, GA, we have Hindu, Greek Orthodox, and Catholic food festivals in the summer. One thing that stands out is how the food is prepared in the Greek festival).

9. Be sure to list your sources and make citations according to SWS.

10. Provide at least three (3) quality resources for the assignment.

11. Be sure to cite the 3 sources in the body of your paper. This means there will be a minimum of 3 citations and each source will be cited at least once. Think of it this way: sources=citations.

12. Document your sources using SWS Style for in-text citations and references.

13. Of course, always remember to clearly and coherently using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and mechanics.

14. Type it, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Citations and references must follow SWS writing style.

15. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, your name, the professor's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

16. Hints for successful writing:

17. First, write down your ideas and thoughts for the topic.

18. Second, compose an outline that includes and organizes your ideas. Be sure to follow the template as a guide.

19. Third, write a rough draft. In the draft, be sure to cite sources properly.

20. Fourth, read your new draft aloud to anyone who will listen and accept any feedback. Make note of spelling, punctuation, and proper grammar.

21. Fifth, write a second draft in "essay form." Be sure to edit it for proper grammar.

22. Sixth, submit it to Blackboard and take the rest of the day off! You have earned it!

Hi all, as you work on the Final Paper, make sure you choose a category for the paper. Then you look at how that category is viewed in all the religions we covered this quarter.

DO NOT choose a religion and then write a paper on that religion.

Choose a category from one of the following: Origin of all things; Nature of God; Nature of Man; Good and Evil; Afterlife; Salvation; Rituals and Practices; Celebrations and Festivals

Hinduism , Jainism , Buddhism , Daoism , Confucianism , Shinto , Zoroastrianism , Judaism , Christianity , Islam , Sikhism , New Religious Movements

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
