Part 1
Today's Cyber Friday assignment is in two parts. The total value of this assignment is 150 pts (75 pts for each part). Since this is a hefty one, you will have until midnight Monday to complete it.
Part I:
Watch the documentary "Truman," produced by David Grubin, in American Experience (Arlington, VA: Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), 1997). Watch from timestamp 1:15:45 to 2:52:20.
As you watch, think about the challenges Truman faced as he stepped into the shoes of FDR, then answer the following:
1.) What were his options for ending the war?
2.) What did he want to accomplish in the postwar years and why?
3.) How did US relations with the Soviet Union change between 1945 and 1948?
Part II:
Watch the documentary "Korea: The Unfinished War" and answer the following:
1.) How did the United States become involved in the conflict in Korea?
2.) Who were the enemies of the US in that conflict and why?
3.) How was the conflict resolved and why is it called the "unfinished war?"
Part 2
Our Truman documentary has been pulled from our database so use this one instead:
