Federal proseutors announced the indictment

On Thursday, June 13, 1996, then Arizona Governor Fife Symington was indicted on 23 counts of fraud and extortion. Just hours after the federal proseutors announced the indictment, several polls were conducted on Arizonians asking whether they thought Symington should resign.

One poll, conducted by Research Resources, Inc., which appeared in the Phoenix Gazette, revealed that 58% of Arizonians felt that Symington should resign; it had a margin of error of +4.9% and -4.9%.

Another poll, conducted by the Phoenix-based Behavior Research Center and appearing in the Tempe Daily News reported than 54% of Arizonians felt that Symington should resign; it had a margin of error of +-4.4%.

a. Do the two confidence intervals have any overlap, or are they disjoint from each other?

b. Based on what you found in part(a), could the conclusions of both polls be correct? Explain your answer.
