Take a few moments to visit this website. You can also see a summary of the key antitrust statutes (Sherman Act (1890), Clayton Act (1914), and FTC Act (1914) on the site. Since this website was last updated in 2004, some of the more recent cases are not listed. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) also maintains a list of antitrust case filings:

1. Pick an antitrust case that interests you. You can use the above two links or do your own research on some other prominent cases. Describe the case and explain how the firm violated U.S. antitrust law.

3. Do the think the government should play an active role in keeping markets competitive? Why or why not?
