The Value of Systemic Approaches
Drawing on your readings and resources from this course, pretend you are teaching a course about working with children in a clinical setting.
In your initial discussion post:
- Present a rationale to your students for assessing and treating problems through a systemic lens.
- Provide an example of what you might miss by working only individually with a child.
- Discuss how you would recommend blending individual and systemic approaches for working with children and adolescents and their families.
- Describe circumstances under which you might choose to see caregivers or parents apart from the child (explaining your reasons) and still work from a systemic perspective.
