Assignment: Data To Knowledge
As you continue in your role as project manager, you must work to analyze the data in the dataset, convert it into information, and summarize the data through "data mining" and usage of the SAS software. SAS will help you summarize the data in the dataset, and it will help you produce graphical presentations of the outcomes of the analysis. You will use that analyzed data information and graphical form and perform your analysis to support your recommendation to your boss, the Vice President of Operations. SAS OnDemand is a widely accepted industry analytical and reporting tool. You have already registered and you should have access to SAS OnDemand (You completed this in Unit 1 Individual Project and you used SAS OnDemand in IP2 where you reported the dashboard). You should identify the features for the analysis of the data in the dataset provided in this Unit IP (costs associated with your department in the previous year) and familiarize yourself with the power of the SAS tools in creating illustrations through graphs to support your reporting With this tool, you will upload the dataset into SAS and you will use the analysis and the graphical presentation for your summarization and conclusions for Units 4 and 5. In this unit, unit, you must complete the following:
• Upload the Excel dataset into SAS OnDemand. NOTE: The dataset contains operations data for your company from last year.
• Prior to the process in SAS, you will review (eyeball) the dataset. You might see different opportunities in the data for improvement and you may develop a hypothesis of possibilities for recommendation to cut costs. You should have reported a few observations of recommendations in the DB for this Unit.
• You must state those opportunities in your response in this assignment (Hypotheses) and state your basis for the recommendations.
• You must proceed with using SAS to make sense of the data, draw conclusions and make more "information based" decisions and use it in from the SAS the analysis and decision-making process.
• Reminder: You must use SAS OnDemand (and other tools) to analyze the data for the previous year's costs in your department. The associated areas in your department have incurred those costs and the purpose for those costs.
• You must perform descriptive analysis to illustrate what has occurred in the department, any trends you observe, and the costs that were incurred in the department. You should use a Pareto Diagram and other tools in your analysis to illustrate the findings from the analysis.
• You must report the results of this analysis in a Word document and then submit it in the Unit 3 IP assignment folder.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
