In a widely debated piece, Andrew Sullivan claimed in May 2016 that the problem of democracy in the United States was that it had become "too democratic". In his assessment, he claimed to not only follow Plato, but also the Founding Fathers, most of all Madison. Michael Lind responded two weeks later with a strong rebuttal in the New York Times.
Present and contrast Sullivan's and Lind's arguments. What is the source of the crisis according to each author, and what is the proposed remedy? End your essay by arguing which analysis you find more convincing and why.
