Your manager, Mr. Myers, is out of the office and has sent you an e-mail. The e-mail states that you have been doing a fantastic job, and this next assignment is a result of his absence. He asked the board of directors if he could give you the next assignment to complete and pass.

Part 1:

Mr. Myers tells you that the board wants you to prepare a memo discussing the 4 grids in the competing values model. He also explains that the memo should contain researched information outlining the complexity of the competing values decision-making model.

The 4 grids of the competing values decision-making model (Quinn & Rohrbaugh, 1981, 1983) are listed below:

  • Internal focus: mentor, facilitator
  • Flexibility: innovation, networker
  • Control: monitor, manager
  • External focus: producer, team leader

Mr. Myers explains to you that he cannot make the staff meeting today because of an illness, and he needs you to prepare a memo for the staff discussing the competing values decision-making model. He also explains that by using the grid below, he wants you to discuss the human relations model quadrant, the open-system model quadrant, the manager control quadrant, and the user quadrant.

For this assignment, you must submit a memo consisting of 400-500 words in which you discuss the competing values decision-making model.
