Data allow us to discern facts from fiction and prepare us to act to either make improvements or maintain that status quo if top quality is empirically verified by evidence-based practice. Whenever glaring facts does not amount to much in terms of quality of nursing care, nurses as professionals are not expected to just belabor because of water that is under the bridge. Rather, all anticipation is for them to dive in and advance quality care to the fullest.
That is the only acceptable professional approach to a life calling that has a zero tolerance for mediocre healthcare provision. That is because the value of research findings that are used for evidence-based practice are measured by collected data and their clinical importance (Houser, 2018).
This application is evidenced in my place of employment by the utilization of verified data as an important tool for resolution of crises, quality, evaluation of successful or the lack of proper implementation of care, and to realize driven aims and objectives of our healthcare system,
For instance, many healthcare systems rely heavily on patient feedbacks from surveys, data obtained from questionnaires and interviews from the point of admission to the discharge of their clients and use this salient information of patients' preferences to mold verifiable nursing interventions. My employers use feedbacks from patients as a force for daily task motivation for the various healthcare teams in advancing the health system's concept of quality patient care initiatives.
An example of data that can reflect poor quality in care will be the preponderance of patients' complaint that nurses did not answer their call bells promptly as required, in a recent survey carried out by our hospital.
To ameliorate this concern, nurses in our healthcare setting have been tasked to respond to patients' calls for assistance within 2 minutes or to delegate the task to a junior staff to go and at least see what the patient needs are within that time frame if the nurse is not chanced to immediately go and see the patient.
Patient care can also be data driven with regards to using evidence-based nursing philosophy to achieve best practice. Nowadays, healthcare settings establish policy and procedures based on best practice models that arose from verified data that have been collected from well researched and clinically tested nursing interventions.
Quality health care is an index for gauging the extent that health services for individuals and populations advance the probability of intended health results as well as conform to contemporary professional proficiency (Hughes, 2008).
The aim of continuous quality improvement programs is to advance health care delivery by discerning drawbacks, carrying out and tracking remedial measures and examining its value. Nurses play a huge role in healthcare systems by determining the areas in the organizational structures that require improvement and change.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
