PROJECT REQUIRING TEAM EXECUTION

Successful project initiation and completion requires the dedication and efficiency of a strong management team. An effective team ensures the coordination of all its members through a deeper understanding of the psychometric relationship between them (Larson, 1989). The MBTI theory provides dichotomies on perceptions and judgments associated with different types of people. This helps in building an effective team based on the assessment of the characteristics and personalities of different people (Kathykeyan, 2012).

This helps in the creation of an effective team that realizes optimal project performance.One of the projects that would require a strong team execution is the construction of a multibillion Shopping Mall. This is a huge project that requires an effective team effort from the construction team. A construction team is composed of the architect, project manager, quantity surveyor, structural, electrical engineer and mechanical engineer. My main role in this team is to be the project manager. The project manager is the team leader and is associated with the coordination of each team member to ensure all works are conducted in accordance to the project requirements.

It is important to understand the team members who would be working on the project in the future. This requires me as the team leader to organize the members in accordance to their level of performance. For example, I would distribute them into categories such as high achievers, good field workers and good documenters. As the project manager, it is my duty to ensure the project is executed at the required time and the project is also completed at the right time (Stewart, 1995). This daunts me with the task of considering the technical, functional and behavioral characteristics of the team members to build an effective team that ensures effective project execution. My overall responsibility is to ensure the selected team is transformed to the required team and the theoretical plans are transformed to executable actions.
