A manufacturing engineer is studying the dimensional variability of a particular component that is produced on three machines. Each machine has two spindles, and four components are randomly selected from each spindle. Assume that machines and spindles are fixed factors.

3. At significance level .05, test whether the spindles have the same effect

4. At overall confidence level .95 report the confidence intervals for the following contrasts: C1=u1-(2)u2+u3, C2=u2-u3 where u1 is machine 1, u2 is machine 2, and u3 is machine 3

5. At significance level .05, test normality assumption and equal variance assumption hold
