Assignment: Draft a Request for a Letter of Verification.

Select a professional who you know and have worked with. The person should be able to verify your knowledge, skills, and abilities while in their employ. Request that they write a Letter of Verification to include as a Supporting Document in your prior learning portfolio. The letter must specifically note your duties, responsibilities, and tasks as related to the courses you are petitioning for credit. The purpose of the letter is to verify your experiential learning and the level of learning. The letter should include your major, a description of the purpose of the letter, and a summary of the courses you are petitioning for credit.

Recommended information to request from validator to include in Letter of Verification:

Title, professional relationship (supervisor, colleague, co-worker), and general timeframe observed.

Short description of the observed duties that were performed individually and as part of a team.

Brief summary of the knowledge, skills, and abilities. (Name competencies/learning outcomes associated with the coursework being petitioned.)

Special assignments completed that support mastery of course outcomes.

Attest to the level competencies were performed - average, above average, superior.

Include any other statements that would help an evaluator determine what skills you are proficient in as related to the course outcomes.

Include the following in your request to the validator:

Purpose of the Letter

Your major and the courses you are petitioning for credit - consider including the outcomes for each course

Your contact information in case the validator has any questions.

Ask that the letter be written on company letterhead, include the validator's name and contact information, is dated, and signed.

Ask that the Letter of Verification be emailed to you as a Word or PDF file. If feasible, offer to pick up the letter in person.

Due date for the completed Letter of Verification be sent back to you

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
