- Noticing none, retransmits token
- Sends whofollows
- Successor to failed station responds
- Becomes new successor
- If 2 stations in a row down
- Send solicit_successor_2
- Arbitrate among all alive to join ring
- If token holder goes down, timers to restart as in claim_token
