Compute the brightness temp

1. The filament of an incandescent light bulb typically has a temp of 2,850K. Find lamda max. Is this the wavelength within the visible band? Plot B lamda for this temp, using linear axes. Either graphically or numerically, estimate the fraction of the total emission from an incandescent light bulb that falls within the visible portion of the spectrum (ie between 0.4 and 0.7 um). If the bulb consumes 60 W of electrical power, what is the maximum amount of visible light it produces, in watts?

2. A satellite viewing a surface location under cloud free conditions measures a 12um radiance of 6.2 W m^-2um^-1sr^-1. Compute the brightness temp Tb. Compute the actual temp, assuming that the atmosphere is completely transparent, and that the surface in question is known to have an emissivity of 0.9 at this wavelength. Is the ration of the brightness temp to the actual temp equal to the emissivity?
