Project - The Complete Package

This project will be undertaken as part of a team of 3 or more. You will prepare a portfolio of documents to support planning, implementation and management of your team project.

Each team member will take a different role. You will need to demonstrate that you can prepare and plan for the project. Each team member must take a leadership role at some point. You will implement your project and produce a report/presentation of the outcomes.

As a team leader it is important that you are able to support your team in identifying skills gaps and in a specific skill or knowledge area. Each team member should be given an opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills.

You will need to identify a project that involves learning a new set of skills. You must present this project to a 'team', assess their current skill levels and develop plans to address any skills gaps.

Steps to be demonstrate

Item 1: project proposal

Develop the project proposal. Identify an area of focus for, the project and prepare a project proposal. The project must involve a team completing a task or series of tasks. The project must involve the team members learning new skills and working as a team. Examples may include:

  • assembling furniture
  • cooking a meal
  • developing a brochure using Google docs.

Item 2: Obtain Approval

Your assessor or facilitator will act as a stakeholder/supervisor for this project. You must obtain signed approval for your proposal from your assessor before you proceed with your project.

Item 3: Organise your team

You will be assigned 2 team members by your assessor or facilitator. You will need to work with them for the duration of the unit. You must arrange a meeting with them to explain your project, set roles and responsibilities and conduct a gap analysis.

Item 4: Organise your team

Meet with your team and explain the project. Conduct a 'Gap analysis' to identify their current skill set and opportunities for further development. Record notes from this meeting.

Item 5: Develop Individual performance plans

Develop a performance plan with each of your team members to address skills gaps. This performance plan must be implemented in the second stage of the project.

Item 6: Communicate to resolver issues

Identify any significant problems and communicate with team members and/or the facilitator/assessor to help resolve these.

This Assessment. Task must be completed in full and submitted to the assessor by the agreed date.

Along with the above items your assessor will be looking for you to have completed the following templates:
1) project proposal (template provided)
2) Minutes/notes from team meeting identifying roles and responsibilities of team members (template provided)
3) gap analysis for each team member (template provided)
4) an individual project / performance management plan for each team member(template provided).

Project Implementation

Performance objective

The student must demonstrate capabilities in leading a team to achieve a project goal.
This assessment 'Project Implementation' is the second part of an overall holistic assessment for this unit.
You are required to lead a project team o achieve a goal developed in a previous assessment. You must meet with your team three times (maybe more) to work towards achieving the goal.

Procedure

Meet with your team and develop an Action Plan for the project. The Action Plan should include all actions to be taken, by when, by whom.
In order for your project to progress smoothly, you must also develop the following:

  • communication policy
  • communication procedures
  • project rules
  • corrective action procedure.

Item 3: Work instruction
You must also develop clear and concise work instructions as for project tasks.

Item 4: Impie:ckeination
Follow up on the implementation of the Action Plan items with your team. Follow your communication policy and procedures. If team members do not attend a required session, initiate the corrective action procedure.

Provide support and facilitation as required. Record all follow up actions in minutes. Complete status on the action plan.

Item 5: Communicate with stakeholders
Minutes from meetings must be emailed to your assessor'or facilitator within 24 hou s of meetings.

  • a communication plan that identifies steps in the communication process with stakeholders and individual responsibilities for these actions
