Assignment:
Project: Financial Crises
In this project you will analyze a financial crisis. Over the past decades, even centuries, there have been many significant financial crises. Some of these have been effective across a country and some have had an impact around the globe. On the other hand, there have also been numerous financial crises at the firm level. This project will be about the relatively recent financial catastrophes that some firms have been faced with.
Please look at the accompanying pdf file to see which financial disaster (Société Générale ($7 billion)) is assigned to you. I would like you to conduct a research on that specific disaster and write a 2 to 3 page report about that event. In your report you should provide information about:
- the company/event;
- the reason(s) behind the disaster;
- the losses; the consequences and the aftermath;
- lessons learned if any, including regulatory changes.
The sources that you should use in your research are the internet and the library. If you need additional help, let me know and I will provide additional guidance specific to a particular financial crisis.
