A head-up display (HUD) refers to the one where vital in-flight data are displayed at the same level as the pilot’s line of sight while he is viewing the external references ahead of aircraft. The principle which is adopted within the HUD system is to show the needed data over the face of CRT and to project them through the collimating lens as the symbolic image on to the transparent reflector plate, such that image is superimposed over the pilot’s normal view, through window screen, of terrain ahead. The display is the combined alphanumeric and symbolic one, and as it is focused at the infinity it allows the concurrent scanning of the outside world and show without refocusing eyes.
