Some of the peripheral devices are slow; they are not able to run at the similar speed as 8085. One manner to slow down 8085 is along with the READY signal. In case, the device is not ready, it will return the low READY bit to 8085. Then 8085 produces the number of WAIT states. When peripheral device is set, it will transmit the high READY signal to the µP. Then µP may complete the data transfer.
